The Cloudship Club
First a little history. My kids and I have been reading young adult fiction together since they were very little. We've read all the Harry Potter books, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia and many, many others. I eventually got a hankerin' to try my hand at one and so, over the course of the summer of 2007 and then off and on over the next year and a half I wrote this book. As I wrote, I read portions of the novel to my kids and got their input as the story developed. They were very helpful and had a big influence on the final product.
After publishing my first novel, Laylek's Song, I learned that I'm not very patient with traditional publishing; and so, in an effort to save myself a lot of time and frustration, I decided to try out self-publishing through Amazon's CreateSpace. I have to say that it has been a wonderfully straight-forward process so far. Now, after only a few months of trial and error, we've approved the final proof and just now ordered our first batch of copies.
I particularly enjoyed all the creative control I had in designing my own cover, doing the interior layout and, of course, putting together these pages. Now I just need to sell some copies to pay for it all![]()
